April 2007 Meeting - What the Future Holds
The meeting was called to order by President Tom Davidson.
Old Business
1. Club Brew 2 weeks ago was a big success. 20 some people attended to make the Dunkelweisen. Good food was enjoyed with the consensus that the smoked brisket was the best ever. In fact two of the members have subsequently bought the same smoker that the Snyder’s have and are now enjoying the fruits of smoked meats. Hopefully they will host future meetings!!!!!
New Business
1. Big Brew May 5 at the Thirsty Brewer. Beginning time 9:00 A.M. Be prompt. Please bring extra chairs and tables. Don’t forget to bring a pot luck dish to share. Discussion of 3 styles to brew. IPA, Belgium, or a hybrid type. Let Tom know your preferences.
2. MD Guild picnic June 9, 2007. Patapsco State Park. Go to MD home brew guild web page for directions etc.
3. AHA Denver Colorado in June. If anybody is interested in planning to go and wants to ship a keg please call Les and he will arrange for it to be shipped on the pallet with other beers.
4. The Guild is buying a conical fermenter. Tickets on sale soon. Follow web page to get the details or call Home brew guild.
5. Wootown bus trip to be planned for the fall. Suggestions needed for a tour and a restaurant combination. Lancaster County, PA to Reading to the UGLY OYSTER for dinner. A replica of an Irish brewpub. OR maybe to Annapolis area to The OLD STEIN INN for German food and beer. Any other ideas will be entertained.
6. Discussion was entertained to buy an oak Whiskey barrel to use for brewing. Discussion ended in a positive vote to purchase the barrel.
7. CLUB T-SHIRT. Discussion on a design for a WOOTOWN BREWERS T-SHIRT. Designs will be developed and posted on the web site. Keep checking and vote for your favorite.
8. Next meeting date and place will be determined at the Big Brew on May 5.
