November 2006 Meeting - Mead-making and 2006/2007 Elections
On Sunday, November 5, 2006, the Wootown Brewers met for their November club meeting at the house of Wootown Vice President/Treasurer and Secretary Lloyd and Ruth Snyder in White Hall, MD. The Snyders live near the Mason Dixon Line and run their own apiary. Lloyd and Ruth Anne were gracious enough to host the group for a mead-making session and important club meeting.
Elections were held during the November meeting, and the results are as follows:
President - Tom Davidson
Vice President - Lloyd Snyder
Treasurer - Lloyd Snyder
Secretary - Ruth Snyder
Guild Representative - Tom Davidson
Communications Officer - (Empty)
The position of Communications Officer was left open as per the October meeting. The current Communications Officer, Jeff Sanders, agreed that he would help the site in some fashion, but will be contacting members to solicit help for the site.
Lloyd and Ruth own their own apiary in White Hall and provided top quality honey for the group's mead-making.
Wootown members used approximately 200 pounds of honey for their mead-making, which include a number of different mead types. Five of the seven different types of honey were used in various mead recipes.
This year, several of last year's mead were brought out for sampling. The reaction to the year-old meads was overwhelmingly positive.
Wootown would like to thank Lloyd and Ruth for their hospitality and the abundance of fresh honey, and congratulate them on their new posts.
