October 2006 Meeting - The 2006/2007 Officer Nominations
On Tuesday, October 10, 2006, the Wootown Brewers met for their October club meeting at the house of Wootown member James Fleming in Pikesville, MD.
This meeting was a non-brewing one, and as such, the group met, drank, and swapped stories over our host's excellent Gumbo entree (too bad there was no Andouille sausage in it, but there's always next year :-) ).
During the official meeting, the club discussed a number of club-related issues, including the upcoming Wootown elections and possible event activities. A number of nominations were submitted for club officers during the discussion, and the event discussion included the upcoming Holiday party and November brew.
Jeff Sanders, current Wootown Communications Officer, addressed the group on the need for more participation from Club Members for the web site. He stated that while the web site garners much praise, has heavy usage, and is recognized by many other groups and individuals as a an excellent example of what a brew club's site should be, maintaining the site also takes up so much of his free time and that he was no longer able to dedicate the same amount of time to it.
The group discussed breaking down the web site into different areas of responsibility including:
- Events publishing
- Picture taking
- Image resizing
- And management of the Wootown Forums
Many different members talked about how they were very willing to chip in but, at the time of the publication of this article, only one has done so (Editor's Note: If you're able to help, please let Jeff know).
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Tom Davidson announced that in accordance with the Wootown Charter, he would like to appoint Kevin Ervin to a new committee-sponsored post of Events Coordinator. The motion was carried and the group went on to smoke cigars into latter portion of the evening.
Wootown would like to thank James Fleming for his hospitality, tours of his stellar wine cellar, and for the grub.
