Wootown had a combined meeting with the Libation Association of Northern Harford County. Both clubs met at and were given an informative tour by head brewer Jim Wagner of DuClaw Brewing. Club members were able to ask questions and sample 3 DuClaw Beers: Venom, Twisted Kilt, and a Oak Barrel aged Black-Jack Stout.
Wootown then held our regular meeting:
a. The next meeting and brew will occur on National Homebrewer's Big Brew, May 6th, at the home of Don and Linda Burns. It was decided by vote that the club would not brew the suggested beer for the “Big Brew”, but rather elected to brew a Pale Ale and possibly also a Hefeweizen.
b. The Free State Homebrewer's Club Guild picnic will be on July 22nd, noon - 7pm at Patapsco State Park, Hollofield Area, Shelter 300. Bring the wife and kids, it is open to family’s and it's always a lot of fun. There is a Wheat beer competition and cash prizes. The Guild will have the grill going, bring some food and beer. If you are interested visit the MHBG website for additional details: http://www.mdhomebrewers.com/. We will discuss getting a group to together to attend at the May 6th meeting.
c. The September meeting and brew will be held at Tom Davidson's house. What we will brew has yet to be decided, suggestions are welcome.
d. Tentatively, the November brew will be held at Ruth and Lloyd Snyder's home.
e. The Maryland Microbrewery Festival will be held at the Union Mills Homestead on September 30th., 11 AM to 6 PM Details at: http://ccgovernment.carr.org/ccg/tourism/event-fnd.asp
f. The annual Guild Christmas Holiday Party will be held Sat. Dec 2nd at Clipper City Brewing.
g. Jeff Sanders was elected to be the clubs newest Web Monkey, congratulations Jeff.
